Choose which sections appear in the left-hand menu: keep only the ones you actually use, for a cleaner interface. Hiding a section deletes nothing — you can turn it back on whenever you want.

What it's for

SamBooks covers many areas (invoices, journal, VAT, balance sheet, bank, tax filings…). If you only need some of them, you can hide the rest from the menu: you work faster and find what matters right away.

Where to find it

Go to Settings → Customize sidebar. You can also reach it from the onboarding card on the dashboard by clicking "Personalize the navigation bar" (when done, use "Back to dashboard").

How it works

You see the list of sidebar sections, each with a short description and a toggle:

  • "Visible" — the section appears in the menu.
  • "Hidden" — the section disappears from the menu (but can be re-enabled at any time).

Set the toggles as you prefer and click "Save": the menu updates immediately. To return to the initial setup, use "Reset to default".

Next to some items you'll find the reason for their state, e.g. "Visible by default for your regime" or "Optional: enable if you need it". The Dashboard is always available and cannot be hidden.

Sections locked by tax regime

Some sections can't be changed here because they depend on the company's tax regime (e.g. under the flat-rate regime certain areas don't apply and stay hidden). If an item is locked, you'll read "Not applicable for your tax regime": to change it, first update the regime in Settings → Tax profile.

Common errors

  • A section won't turn on — it's locked by the tax regime: change the regime in Tax profile, then come back here.
  • I hid a section by mistake — reopen it here and set it back to "Visible", or use "Reset to default". That section's data was never touched.

FAQ

Does hiding a section delete data? No: it only hides the item from the menu. The data stays and reappears as soon as you re-enable it.

Do the preferences apply to everyone? They're your display preferences for the company; each user personalizes their own bar.
